Mike DeSorda is proof it’s never too late to find your calling. Born and raised in Redondo Beach, California, he began taking music lessons in his late 60s and didn’t start songwriting until 69. Now in his 70s, he has embraced music as a second act, focused on storytelling and production rather than performance.

Shaped by the blues, rock, pop, jazz, country, and folk of the 1950s–1970s, his work carries a vintage sensibility with a fresh narrative focus. His songs are primarily emotional ballads, with each one guiding its own genre and direction. As he puts it, every song “tells me what genre it needs to be.”

For Mike, songwriting begins with lived experience and aims to move listeners while also inviting reflection that lingers beyond the final note.

Based in Prescott, Arizona, he produces music under his indie label Granite Mountain Sounds. His debut songwriter album, Better Late Than Never, is set for release in September 2026, featuring original songs performed by a range of artists.
